The LGBT Centre, the first and only LGBTQI+ human rights organization in Mongolia seeks a passionate, collaborative, and highly efficient individual to join our team to serve as a Legal Programme Coordinator. We are a small team of committed and passionate human rights defenders who have managed to achieve remarkable results since the Centre’s establishment in 2007.

Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the Legal Programme area by conducting and implementing legal research, analysis, advocacy and initiatives to assist the full enjoyment of human rights by the LGBTQI+ persons in Mongolia and related activities such as monitoring and evaluation of the programme, project management through proposal development, budgeting and tracking expenditure, and implementation of project activities
Document human rights violations and provide legal assistance/representation to community members; draft reports for relevant international treaty bodies and other institutions on the LGBTQI+ human rights situation in Mongolia
Conduct advocacy to include LGBTQI+ protection mechanisms in existing as well as proposed laws and regulations, monitor and evaluate the implementation of such on a regular basis; utilise the judicial review venues where necessary to promote LGBTQI+ human rights
Maintain solid working relations with relevant institutions and multi-stakeholders domestically and internationally aimed at sustaining the high profile of LGBTQI+ human rights issues in Mongolia on priority areas such as anti-discrimination, hate crimes, health rights, labour rights, etc.,
Provide human rights and legal information workshops for the LGBTQI+ persons, relevant public and civil society organisations and other institutions.

Experience and Qualification
– Commitment to human rights, justice and dignity for all
– Extensive knowledge and experience with the LGBTQI+ community in Mongolia, related issues and human rights violations
– Experience in legislative analysis
– Familiarity with domestic and international human rights mechanisms
– Experience in public interest litigation (civil and criminal) preferred
– Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
– Familiarity with civil society organisations
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
– Experience working in diverse environments
– Working knowledge of English
– Ability to write in diverse styles in Mongolian
– Demonstrated experience in time and stress management
– Capacity to multitask, work independently as well as in a team
– Two and more years of relevant work/volunteer experience
